Now here is an interesting item I have seen lately. Electronic bristle boards for steel tip darts. I've thought of having an electronic opponent to play a game against when practicing at home but don't want one of the standard electronic boards with the soft tip darts as the darts are much lighter than what I throw in steel tip.

Has anyone seen or tried these electronic bristle boards? How do they perform with fall outs and bounce outs? With accurate scoring?

The scientist in me is so curious on how it works. Like how it picks up the location of a dart, and then if a dart falls out that it knows it is no longer inserted into the board.

The Dart Master III is probably the best practice tool out there. It will play very competitive games at ten different levels against you in 501, cricket and 301. I beleive the only place that it can be purchased in the state is at Woodway in Somerville for @ $300. They had a contract that made it impossible to get them elsewhere.

Another great option to practice your 01 against an opponent is the n01 software. I have it on my laptop and it makes for good competition and it saves your games so you can use it to keep score with friends or in league play. I like using it because it keeps running totals on Dart average as well as 100+, 140+, 180's, high outs, and best game shot. The program is a free download Click Me!!! It is a safe program that I have had on both of my laptops for years with no problems.

Thanks DanD. I'll give that one a go and see how it is.

I did find another software program that you can play against. It is called CorkIt! by Omega Darts. Problem is, they are out of business or their website is gone and I can't register it to unlock the play against yourself feature and some other features. You can still find the program out there just only on freeware or file sharing sites. It has three games in it, 301, 501, cricket, and has a practice mode where it tells you to shoot at a number and you tell it where you hit so it can properly track your accuracy. It also tracks you as you play the games. And I don't mean what number you hit, but exactly where your darts hit on the board, or as close as you can indicate on the program. Seemed like a great program even though you have a lot of manual entry to do in it, and it looks like the onlocked version can track multiple players too. Just wish I could find a way to unlock it.

Or maybe I should just make my own. Hrmmm ... wonder if it could be tied into an elctronic bristle board so manual entry was not needed. Just plug into your laptop and away you go. Unplug and take the laptop on the road to your games then you manual enter your players scores during the games .... interesting. :geek:

I played on an electronic bristle board once ... I think it was at the Hopkinton Fish & Game club? This was a LONG time ago. We didn't use it for league play, but it was there and we practiced on it. I remember it was pretty accurate. I have no idea what manufacturer it was.

I know Halex does make something like that but not sure whom else does/did.

Thing to think about too is for what that costs (which I'm sure is a good lot more than a regular board)..when you wear it out it's more costly to replace.

For my money I'd just buy a dedicated electronic scoreboard. Mine cost $300 and is still working fine 4 years later.
